Hello, bag lovers!

If you carry a bag on an everyday basis, you will quickly notice that your bag can often double as a black hole into a foreign vortex where all your necessities will be lost!

We do not want that.

Ladies and fabulous others,

If your bag looks like this….

Screen Shot 2014-11-12 at 1.57.16 PM

I’m here to help you with this hot mess.

This is what we want:

Screen Shot 2014-11-12 at 2.00.15 PM

So, first we need to CONFORM and CONJOIN.

Conform to the fact that A) Your bag is a mess – and, B) No, you don’t have a system.

Let’s begin.

Conjoin items by group and place them into smaller pochettes or things of the liking.

Put your makeup into a makeup bag, put your business cards into a business card holder… and so fourth.

You ideally want to make no more then four groups so that each section is clearly visible.

Another idea, if you would like something a bit sturdier – is to use an eyewear case for items, just as illustrated here:

Screen Shot 2014-11-12 at 1.51.53 PM

Do not overstuff your sections as that will turn out to be counter productive.

No one wants to be the girl who can’t find her debit card and takes ten minutes to pay at Starbucks!

If you need something really easy, I suggest buying a clear pouch so that all of your items are clearly visible and that you know what you are fishing for:

I highly recommend shopping for pochettes at Truffle! Click here to visit their website.

Turns out the trinkets that envelope the checkout line at Forever 21 have a use after all!

After this, all you have to do is MAINTAIN!

Let’s not treat this as that unrealistic diet we tried for twenty two hours. Maintain Maintain Maintain.

Here’s to a clean bag and a speedy find!

Hello, Style Fiends!

I would like to wish everybody a happy equinox! Today is the first official day of autumn in our neck of the woods – and I am so ready to start seeing my favorite color, on everything from trees, bags to rooms! It’s ORANGE season.

Many people may hesitate to sport the color orange with their outfit for a variety of reasons. Whether it’s too bold of a color for you, or the thought of having to go through your entire closet finding something to match it is intimidating you.. Let’s stop there!

I am going to show you where you can add some orange in your life!

Let’s Start with a basic color wheel:

Across from ORANGE we have BLUE – So that’s safe. Let’s explore other color options I love mixing orange with:

Now that we know what colors we can play with, let’s see where we can introduce orange.

Wallpaper is great way to have orange. This rich vibrant hue will make an excellent accent wall – for larger spaces, feel free to paint the whole room.

Hello everyone!

As promised, I am continuing to scout local talent every week and serving it to you right here, on our Perspective blog.

This week I would like to introduce Queen Bee Fibers, a company founded by Lexi Parisse who is a fiber artist and beekeeper.

Aside from fiber works, Lexi produces amazing bath and beauty products:

As seen in Whole Foods stores, this product contains Raw wool that is completely dissolved into the soap, dispersing the fiber’s proteins and the lanolin.

More info is available here.

Now, let’s jump to my favorite part – the fibers!

Fiber fiends, you need to get your hands on these for your next project.

Greetings, style fiends!

Today’s style scope is set on fashion designer Luis Peralta. Luis will be the first installment of a weekly series where I will be scoping out fresh talent and talking about it right here, on the Apartment 48 Perspective blog.

Luis Peralta is exactly what we need in today’s fashion market. He is young, his work is fresh and he is extremely talented.

This past weekend, during NYFW Spring/Summer 2015 – I had the opportunity to pop into his presentation and see what he has been working on recently.

The presentation was hosted in NYC’s West Village and featured a creative collaboration with Hadiiya Barbel, Emmy award winning hair-stylist best known for her work on the Wendy Williams show.

WE TV was there to film the event so stay tuned for that next fall.

Two dresses that were featured in Luis’ new collection:

After the presentation I was able to snap a really cool photo of Luis Peralta outside with his models:

(These photos were taken on my iPhone 5s)

Luis is really great at fashion illustration as well as pattern making and construction. It’s great when you can recognize that a designer is superb all-around.

Check out some of his sketches from his Resort 2015 collection here:

While chatting with Luis after the show, I had a chance to ask him a few questions.

Q: What is this current collection all about?

Luis: “It’s about mermaids, aliens and angels.”  - I did not need another second to understand what he meant.

Beautiful white silhouettes showed me angels,

A blue hue dress with multiple hand sewn pieces of tulle showed me his mermaid fantasy -

and a sleek white look with modern cut outs adorned with a hot pink wig definitely channeled a glamazon alien.

(See outdoor photo with these looks above).

Q: What is your favorite element of a room?

Luis: ”My favorite element of a room is definitely the furniture.” He says that furniture is a make it or break it for him – so we can go ahead and assume he likes beautiful, open layouts – which is resembled in his work.

Q: Do you see yourself emerging into home textiles and goods in the future?

Luis: “Well now that you mention it – I probably should!” Yes, Luis. You definitely should!

You can keep up with Luis’ work on his design instagram, @luis_peralta_nyc.

You can view his past collections and stay tuned for future collections directly on his website,

Luis is on the rise and I am only certain that his work will rise to prominence in the near future.

What’s up, style fiends?

The Summer has come to a close, If you do not work in fashion you have had a full twenty four hours to commemorate your labor and now it’s time for the grind.

In case you noticed a trail of blood, sweat and tears on the NYC pavement, you may have already put two and two together and dreamingly said “fashion week is here”.

Yup, it kicks off this Thursday, September 4th at Lincoln Center with first day showings by designers such as Nicholas K, BCBG Maxazria and spanish mega brand, Desigual.

Composing an original and stand-out invitation is key to having a potential guest attend your show – considering the fact that some of these guests’ presence is so desired, they do not physically have the ability to attend every show.

So, what is the IN invitation this season?

Charlotte Ronson is going to be feeding hungry fashionistas..

Little aluminum tins of caviar with her show deets on the inside. Just kidding – they are getting a PIZZA! (They know they want it).

Not just a slice, but a whole “Ronsonrita” pie from hot-pizza-spot, Asellina. Interns, maybe today you will actually be fed!

The Ronsonrita will be coming around lunchtime today in a custom, limited edition box designed by Charlotte Ronson herself.

For those of you that Charlotte Ronson totally forgot to think about (you can’t blame her – she’s busy); you can pick up a ronsonrita minus the invitation for the whole month of September at Asellina.

I hope Anna Wintour is hungry – and has a seam allowance.

What do you think?
